I’ve been writing much about my experience here at Gerlev International Skate Camp with everything from training to living to eating to sightseeing. What I have not shared much is photos of me actually on skates. You would think I travel here to watch other people train hard! Thanks to fellow skaters and photographers, there are plenty of photos to remind us of great times we shared at Skate Camp. First thing first, a couple of photos dedicated to my teammate LW:

I was skating in the warm up or cool down paceline at Hemmeshøjvej on the day we practiced some straightaway drills. I was in the draft of sk8skool elite skaters. The Asphalt Beach skinsuit that NCJ and I sported received much admiration. Who wouldn’t like the backside of a skinsuit saying “Kickin’ Asphalt”?

We enjoyed a tour to the beach with ice-cream stop along the route. There were different distance and speed options and I skated with a fast group for 42km. Teammate NCJ and I had a group picture with other skaters at the camp. Skaters sporting the red and black jerseys are Roller Vikings, one of the largest group of skaters in Denmark. They will have a strong presence at Le Mans 24h in a few weeks.

This was taken at Slagelse Rulleskøjter Stadion road track training session. The 271m road track surrounds the 200m parabolic track.

We carpooled to Copenhagen for Friday Night Skate. It was so much fun to see the city on skates with hundreds of skaters. Many donned super hero costumes for the theme night. It’s amazing how much daylight we get here. The skate wrapped up at 10pm yet the sky was still bright. My blinkies were not necessary.

We concluded the last day of Skate Camp with racing on the road course and parabolic track by ability groups. It was nice to remind myself the motions of a meet before attending Canadian National Championships in less than a month. Speaking of popular skinsuits, my old uniform for Team Women On Wheels also received lots of attention from the girls. I think I’ll have to place an order since so many girls here want to have one to call their own!
