I don't have much to write about my race at Northshore 2009. With incredibly bad timing, I was (still am) fighting a bad case of cold for the entire weekend. I tried my hardest to keep the sickness at bay but it did affect me more than I hoped it would.
Traveling to Duluth was tremendously hectic due to various reasons. I was stressed out by reasons totally unrelated to racing and hit the sack by the early hours of 9pm under the influence of Neo Citran. I woke up at 4:15 by the first beep of my alarm which is entirely out of character for me. Body felt alright under the circumstances but I sweated buckets during my warm up. Now that I think about it, that was not quite normal.
My race can be summed up in a few sentences. I tripped over the timing mat. I missed the pack. I skated solo and caught the pack eventually. ME and SaH attacked soon after but I had nothing left in my legs. I skated solo. I caught and eventually dropped NM. I skated solo once again until end of race.

My number one priority now is to rest and regain strength for NYC 100k this Saturday. My weight dropped to 118lb after this whole ordeal despite eating a large amount of food all weekend. To end this post on a more positive note, big congratulations to my teammate JLW for placing 7th in pro women! I'll leave you all with an awesome picture taken at the start line.

Hi Candy,
I came across your website by accident a couple of weeks ago and have been checking in ever since. Get well soon and good luck in NYC.
