One of my favourite part of coming to The Great EsSkate is the social aspect. Without the pressure of a race, everyone just lets loose and has a good time. Don't believe me? Check out these pictures!
This picture was taken at the Friday afternoon unofficial skate to Coconut Grove. It's funny how I was taking a picture of MW who was taking a picture of Michael from New York who was taking a picture of another skater.

We stopped for drinks at Mr. Moe's patio in Coconut Grove. The booths were swinging benches which was kinda cool. You see that ginormous glass of iced tea as big as my head? It was not an optical illusion. It really was that big and the waitress asked if I wanted refill.
You see that smile on my face? I was just happy to be skating outside on asphalt despite the fact it was chilly enough to warrant a jacket. (photo by kiteboy)
The event officially kicked off with the Friday Night Skate. I was semi-hidden in this picture as the third skater from the left. If I remember correctly, I barely had time to remove my brake attachment and get into my gears to arrive at the group up on time. Hence the lack of flashy blinking lights. (photo by ldskater)
Posing asian style with EL before the Friday Night Late Skate. Of the Toronto crew, only four of us went to the late skate and it took some arm-twisting to get EG to go. By the end of the night, all of us were glad that we went because it was just sooooo awesome. Coming back from the Venetian Causeway, we had a brutal headwind. BS and I worked together and I got a nice draft from him. I wasn't sure I reciprocated though even with my very non-aerodynamic attire. What can I do, I AM short. (photo by kiteboy)

I made it to ldskater's hall of fame (or is it shame....hmmm) not once but twice this year! (photo by ldskater)
Reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones is of course the best part about The Great EsSkate.
It is always fun to see everyone without their helmet and skates...except I can't always tell who's who! Clubbing on Saturday with the skatelog group was fun. (photo by Jessica)
During the Sunday morning skate, someone brought a copy of the newspaper featuring our Saturday skating adventure. The large photo was us coming down the huge highway exit ramp. How cool is that! Yeah, I got speed wobble and my feet were numb from the bumpy surface. But you can't beat skating on a highway, right? Check out the police escort and the traffic jam we caused!
This was taken at the group up before the last skate of the weekend. After skating in every group skates in the event, a bit of relaxing was in order.
I think we've all done the shopping cart drill though I doubt this is what the coach has in mind. A better question is, how did EL managed to get into the shopping cart without toppling over?! (photo by kiteboy)
Great report, Candy. It would have been fun to be there.

I think Terry (sp?) would enjoy it too. There's lots to do in South Beach besides skating. Next year!
