After years of baking cookies for holiday gifts (like this and this and this and this and this, you get the idea), I'm ready to branch out this year. Way back in 2004, I made an assortment of truffles upon completion of a chocolate course at culinary school. It was fun but not something that I want to do again. My success with making fudge last year inspired me to learn more about confectionery. At the same time, my comfort zone lies in baking cookies so of course I couldn't bear to stop this tradition. In 2010, I devoted a lot of effort in becoming a better cook and I wanted to make use of my new skills to create gifts for friends and family who are not necessarily into sweets. Keeping all of these things in mind, I produced an assortment of edible homemade gifts this year. They are my way of saying thanks to all those who made my 2010 such a fabulous year. I'm thankful to be surrounded by all you wonderful people.
