After much deliberation, our team name has been decided at last! We are
Big ups to Carolyn for the very cool suggestion.
It's been a little while since the last update. Due to scheduling conflict, Sigrid Ziegler will not be able to race with us this year. But no worries, our team is still as strong as ever with the addition of Margo Carvell from Team Rainbo! Word on the street is that not only are we in a friendly challenge with the Poulettes, but Flying Fossils has jumped in the fray as well! Cale, are you ready?

Last weekend a couple of our members attended The Great EsSkate in Miami including myself (Candy) and Jessica. The weather was beautiful and the skating was even better.
Charlie Craven from CCD is now in the process of designing our team uniform. I will post the design for members feedback as soon as it is available.

Just because we're in the middle of winter doesn't mean our members are hibernating. In the last couple of weeks, there were racing and training aplenty!
Jessica competed in the Palm Beach Challenge two weeks ago for both indoor and outdoor racing. You can check out her race report here. She won her divsion in every distance except for the 10k where she took a spill, ouch. Get well soon!
Over in Toronto, Morgane and Shannon went head to head at the Scooter's Indoor Invitational. Members also meet up regularly for group plyometrics sessions and indoor practices.
Moving to the west, Sarah has been training and racing on long track ice in Calgary since October. Meanwhile, Sylvia has been enjoying the great snowboarding condition in British Columbia.
Rebecca has been keeping busy as well during the winter. Don't forget to check out her tips for winter training at Inline Planet!

Chelsea Parry is the latest addition to our team and now we have a full roster of ten!
Over the last couple of weeks, we have narrowed our team name choices down to three:
If you have not already done so, drop a note in the comments section to let us know your preference. I want to make sure our team name is not something that you would be embarrassed about!

I am very happy to announce that skater Rebecca George O'Hearn from Baxter, MN will be part of our team! Rebecca is the first runner up in the 2008 National Roller Cup race series and she finished 6th in 2008's Northshore Inline Marathon elite women division. Rebecca will be a great addition to our team.
Rebecca, welcome on board!
You can see the full listing of our team members in the Meet The Team page. We are still looking for skaters to complete a full roster of 10 so if you're interested or know someone who is, please email dessertbycandy [at] hotmail [dot] com for details.

I hope everyone is as excited about the racing as I am. Here is a note I received from Martine Charbonneau from the other girls' team, Poulettes Sur Roulettes:
"You force me to find a really competitive Poulettes team... I bet it's gonna be a pretty tight girls' race"
Competition, yes!
Now that we're on the topic of gossips, there is also rumour that a new girls category may be added to the race. In any case, I think the race will be awesome this year!

Since our team members come from all over North America, it's not likely that our whole team will meet face to face before race day. However, I (Candy) will be traveling to a few early season skating events including The Great EsSkate in February and Texas Road Rash in April. I will bring sample skinsuit for sizing. Also, if there are things that are best discussed face to face, those would be great opportunities too. Race strategy anyone? ;)
As for the Toronto folks, well, see you at practice!

There's a new section on the left with information on traveling to the race. These pages will be updated as we get closer to race date but it's a start in case anyone would like to make travel plans early.
For those looking for flights to Montreal, kayak.com is a very handy tool to track airfare. For example, I set up my account to have daily email notification for the prices flying to Duluth (for NSIM) and Austin (for Texas Road Rash). You may find it helpful too.

Now that we have a good idea of the core members of the team, it's time to decide on a team name. Why is this important? Because our uniform design cannot proceed without this very important piece of information. Submission are welcome before January 25 and then we will have a vote during the last week of January to make a decision.
Here are some candidates:
Feel free to use the comments to submit your ideas or chime in if you see a name that you really like.
